ION is delighted to collaborate with University College Dublin, Maynooth University, Curtin University and Untapped to deliver this global conference on Neurodiversity and the legal system".

We have put together an exciting agenda of topics and speakers from around the world to have a cross jurisdiction exchange of policy, practice and learnings.

Although there is increasing understanding of neurodiversity across society, there are considerable concerns that systems and institutions relating to the law and criminal justice system is lagging behind.

Particular concerns exist as to the "prison pipeline" that exists as represented by the dramatic overrepresentation of neurodifference/neurominorities within the incarcerated population.

The conference will include all areas of of the criminal justice system: police, practice in court and the judiciary, probate, prison, parole and forensic mental health services.

Topics will be considered through the lens of lived experience, policy, academic learnings and practice.

It is hoped that this can allow cross-fertilisation of best practice models across jurisdictions.
