Expanding Neurodiversity Advocacy: ION's Growing Presence in Africa & South America
In an era where inclusivity and neurodiversity advocacy are more crucial than ever, the Institute of Neurodiversity (ION) is making strategic moves to expand its impact globally. With Africa and South America emerging as regions with growing neurodiversity advocacy efforts, we are thrilled to announce the leadership roles of two exceptional individuals: @Ethel Tambudzai and @Catherine Guimard. Their dedication and expertise will drive ION’s mission forward, ensuring that neurominorities across these continents have access to advocacy, representation, and systemic change.
Ethel Tambudzai: Championing Neurodiversity Across Africa
A seasoned entrepreneur and governance expert, Ethel Tambudzai is stepping into the role of ION Regional Lead for Africa. With a proven track record in strategic operations, partnerships, and governance, Ethel will spearhead the expansion of ION franchises across the continent, working alongside local organisations and advocates to further integrate neurodiversity advocacy within Africa’s societal and corporate structures.
Ethel brings a wealth of experience to this role. A Fractional C-suite operator, Non-Executive Director, and Charity Trustee, she has played a pivotal role in shaping early-stage and scaling startups across Europe, Africa, and America. As a former Partner at PG Collective, she provided invaluable expertise to fast-growth organisations spanning startups, foundations, and corporate entities. Her portfolio includes collaborations with governments, universities, and corporate entities across Africa and beyond, supporting initiatives that prioritise inclusion and sustainable development.
Beyond her corporate influence, Ethel is deeply committed to community-driven initiatives. As a Young Trustee at the Africa Centre and Global Steering Member of ION (Africa Co-Lead), she actively engages in conversations on African diaspora, governance, and neurodiversity. With a passion for youth engagement, Afro-European relations, and sustainable development, Ethel’s leadership is set to transform Africa’s neurodiversity landscape.
Catherine Guimard: Driving Neurodiversity Advocacy in South America
As ION strengthens its foothold in South America, Catherine is leading the charge. A passionate advocate for neurodiversity, Catherine’s journey is a testament to resilience and transformation. Discovering her neurominority identity at 50 was a turning point, igniting her commitment to fostering systemic inclusion.
Since joining ION in 2021, Catherine has demonstrated remarkable leadership, first as France’s Lead, then as a Global Steering Group Member. Her contributions as Lead Franchise Developer have been instrumental in achieving a 27% growth per annum in ION’s reach. Now, as she shifts her focus exclusively to South America, Catherine’s expertise will be pivotal in establishing a robust framework for neurodiversity advocacy across the region.
Her unique approach to transformation—rooted in coaching and cellular chemistry rebalancing—sets her apart as a visionary leader. Upholding values of integrity, truth, and joie de vivre, Catherine fosters connections that drive meaningful change. Her work within ION is centred on collaboration and building sustainable ecosystems where neurominorities can thrive alongside local partners and advocates.
The Future of Neurodiversity Advocacy in Africa & South America
The expansion of ION’s franchises across Africa and South America marks a significant milestone in the global neurodiversity movement. With Ethel’s strategic acumen and Catherine’s transformative leadership, ION is set to create inclusive environments that empower neurominorities, influence policy, and foster widespread acceptance.
As we celebrate this new chapter, we invite changemakers, organisations, and advocates to join us in shaping a world where neurodifferences are not just accepted but valued.
