RESEARCH AND EDUCATION (RDPU)
By learning alongside neurominority individuals, professionals can gain a deeper understanding of the diverse needs and perspectives of different learners. RDPU refers to the full cycle of activities involved in developing and implementing new technologies, programs or initiatives that support neurominority individuals to thrive in life and work.
ION RESEARCH AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT UNIT (RPDU)
The ION RPDU will disseminate cutting edge research and promote its application to academic and non-academic audiences through –
- The journal Neurodiversity published by SAGE Publishing
- An annual international conference,
- Workshops, seminars, master classes and similar dissemination sessions,
- International Chapters – run locally by appointed Chairs.
ION’S RDPU’S GOALS AND OBJECTIVES ARE:
- To provide an international research and professional development platform that encourages global dialogue in the field by inviting novel collaborations, promoting discourse and sharing ideas and resources worldwide with inclusion of Neurominority researchers and individuals at the core,
- To provide global learning opportunities, that will be co-designed to increase awareness, understanding and acceptance, to a wide and varied audience including parents, educational professionals (across all stages of education), employers, criminal justice practitioners, Mental Health clinicians and Allied Health Professionals,
- To promote high quality inclusive international co-designed research and encourage its global application in the field through the development of the journal Neurodiversity together with supporting and inviting international research collaborations and networks,

The Neurodiversity Journal by SAGE
The Journal of Neurodiversity, launched in 2023 is a partnership piece of work by Sage publishing and ION. This is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access, online-only journal dedicated to the rapid publication of interdisciplinary research on neurodevelopmental differences and neurominorities.
We invite submissions from a wide range of fields, including (but not limited to) Psychology, Psychiatry, Neuroscience, Sociology, Epidemiology, and Education. The journal welcomes both fundamental research and more applied studies.
Sage is strong advocate of open research, we encourage submissions that provide open access to materials, data, and analysis code. Additionally, we particularly support research co-produced with individuals from neurominority communities or other stakeholders, such as parents and teachers of neurominorities.
